Starting on June 3, actor Lee Jong Suk is to join Kara’s Goo Hara and Nicole in hosting SBS’s Inkigayo.
On May 18, Inkigayo’s producer Park Kyung Duk said in a phone interview with TV Report, “Lee Jong Suk has been selected to be the third emcee of the show and will begin appearing on June 3. Because IU will be gone for the next six weeks to give concerts around the country, he will cohost the show with Kara’s Goo Hara and Nicole.”
The producer explains the casting: “He’s a trendy guy and has created various buzzwords. He’s also interested in music. So far, Inkigayo has been mainly emceed by female celebrities, but Lee’s appearance will add more fun and stir up a fresh atmosphere,” revealing his expectations.
On his first day of shooting, Lee is to give a special performance. He says, “I’m planning to make my appearance special but haven’t talked about the details yet.
Producer Park concluded, “IU will be back by the end of July, but Goo Hara will leave the show because of Kara’s activities overseas, so Lee is likely to host the show with IU from that point. However, we need more time to organize things to decide whether we should keep the same cast of emcees or not.”
