TVXQ, KARA, and SNSD have finally been selected to appear on Japanese NHK’s Kōhaku Uta Gassen.
Popular Japanese media outlets reported on the 62nd NHK Kōhaku Uta Gassen and said TVXQ, KARA, and SNSD will appear. This is the third time TVXQ has appeared on the show after 2009.
Since TVXQ, KARA, and SNSD are currently active in Japan, they were chosen over a multitude of other candidates.
TVXQ released their single Why? (Keep Your Head Down) in January and they also released their repackage album. SNSD’s Girls’ Generation, which was released in June, ranked first on the Oricon weekly chart and their song “The Boys” which was released in October, is also a hit. KARA is also keeping busy in Japan with their song “Jet Coaster Love.”
A broadcasting official says, “I knew that TVXQ, KARA, and SNSD would appear on the show. Appearing on the show helps a singers’ status in Japan so many singers compete against each to be involved. The program judges the year’s results fairly and it is very popular in Japan as well.”
