Kim Soo Hyun promises, “I will watch the movie carrying the 10-millionth moviegoer on my back”

Recently, actor Kim Soo Hyun made a promise, wishing for his movie The Thieves to become a blockbuster.

Before the release of the movie, a red-carpet event was held on the afternoon of July 24 at ASEM Square at COEX in Samsung-dong, Seoul. There, Kim Soo Hyun appeared and promised that he will watch the movie with the audience if over 10 million people watch it.

The emcee Kim Bum Ryong asked him to make a promise in the hope that it will become very popular. Kim became a bit hesitant and slurred, “If over 10 million people watch it…”

Kim Yoon Suk, who was standing next to him, joked, “He’ll do some cross-country, carrying Jun Ji Hyun on his back.”

Kim Soo Hyun corrected, “If more than 10 million people watch it, I’ll watch the movie carrying the 10-millionth moviegoer on my back,” and received a big cheer from the audience.

He explained what is charming about his character, Jam Pano, saying, “When you hear the title The Thieves, you tend to think of realistic, egoistic people immediately, but my character, Jam Pano, has a sort of romantic side.”

The event featured the main cast of the show, which includes Kim Yoon Suk, Kim Hye Soo, Lee Jung Jae, Jun Ji Hyun, Kim Soo Hyun, Oh Dal Soo, and Kim Hae Sook as well as Simon Yam, Derek Tsang, and director Choi Dong Han, who arrived in Korea on July 23. After the red-carpet event, The Thieves held a large-scale press conference at the COEX Mega Box with 3,000 people in attendance.
