The 6th Seoul Drama Awards is a festival for drama series lovers to enjoy together. This year the entry included 204 series (75 short series, 77 mini series and 52 long series) from 37 countries. Among them, 8 short stories of distinguished quality from diverse countries such as China and Denmark advanced to the finals.
As the chairman of the awarding committee, Yim Kwon-Taek, proven Korean film director, said at the August 29 press conference to celebrate the Seoul Drama Awards that during the screening process, it was a great pleasant to see several distinguished works, which already achieved commercial success in diverse regions, but it was difficult to find any creative, original mini series of artistic value partly because of the nature of the works.
As for the short-series category, the winner out of the outstanding pieces is Shades of Happiness.
Shades of Happiness, a Germany short drama series, features Pasquale Aleardi and Maria Furtwangler.
The award-winning work, Shades of Happiness was highly received in Germany.
As for the mini series category, Korean drama series My Girlfriend is Gumiho and Dream High were advanced into the final. Among the nominated works, Luther of U.K. won the prize.
To keep up the heat of the Korean Wave, more works with artistic creativity are expected to be produced and submitted for the awards. Thanks to the record entry from across the world and Korean stars’ fantastic performances, the Seoul Drama Award 2011 could end with a great success.
