On September 3, YG Entertainment reported that Seungri has been cast in Nippon TV’s special drama series Kindaichi Case Files: Hong Kong Kowloon Treasure Murder Case.
Kindaichi Case Files was also popular in Korea as a cartoon series. It was remade into a drama series that first aired in Japan in 1995. It was a big hit with an average audience rating of 23.9 percent.
A second version of the series aired in 1996, and it was remade into a movie in 1998. The third series aired on 2001, and a special series aired in 2005.
In this new special series, Seungri plays the role of Kim Ryong Dong, a Korean student studying in Hong Kong. Doing part-time work in a hotel, where a murder case has occurred, he gets suspected of the murder at first but eventually proves his innocence with help from Kindaichi.
Seungri says, “Because it’s a drama series produced on a global scale, I’m nervous about being seen by viewers from many countries. I’ll try my best, and I hope I’ll enjoy shooting it.”
Since June, when Big Bang finished a tour of Japan, Seungri has stayed in Japan, hosting Space Shower TV’s V.I From Big Bang as a regular host and Fuji TV’s Sakigake! Music Ranking Eight as a special host.
Seungri will join Big Bang’s tour of Asia, South America, and Europe, which will be held under title of Big Bang’s Alive Galaxy Tour 2012, at the end of September.
