Park Jin Young reveals that he was “pessimistic” about JYP’s recruiting Nickhun

Singer and producer Park Jin Young recently revealed that he was “pessimistic” about JYP’s casting Nickhun as a trainee for a idol group.

On the episode of KBS2’s Happy Together 3 that aired on July 19, the K-pop business mogul said, “I didn’t oppose casting Nickhun, but I wasn’t for the casting.”

Park added, “When a casting crew introduced Nickhun first, I was pretty pessimistic about his future as a singer. After watching him singing and dancing, I doubted he would make a singer. Now, Nickhun earns the biggest part of bread, which JYP Entertainment owes.”

Park even revealed, “Once I fessed up to Nickhun what I had previously thought of him, and apologized. He said he was okay with that, which made me shed a tear.”

The 2PM member, one of the most sought after in K-pop world, quipped, “I knew he was pessimistic about me as a singer, but even I wasn’t confident about myself.”
