Actress Shin Min Ah will return to performing in a TV series as a ghost.
Shin will appear on MBC’s new Wednesday-Thursday series Arang and the Magistrate, which will start at the end of July as a ghost named Arang.
The series is based on the Arang legend from Miryang in South Gyeongsang Province. Arang is a ghost who wants to find out the truth about her death. Lee Joon Gi will play the role of a magistrate named Eun Oh, who can see ghosts.
Shin, who appears on a historical series for the first time, says, “Arang is not a typical ghost but she is a confident and strong woman. Even though she is little cynical and tough, she is a lovely character.”
In the series, Shin will compete against other ghosts to eat food, which is scattered by humans as an offering to hungry devils. She will show a different side of her by chasing and being trailed by psychopomp and fighting in pursuit of an enemy.
Shin says, “The scenes are not actions scenes, but I was just struggling for those scenes. That’s why I tried harder to focus how Arang feels.”
The new series will start airing at the end of July.
