The Korea Tourism Organization’s new Visit Korea app is one of the hottest things in travel, based on data from Apple’s U.S. App Store.
The English version of the app was downloaded more than 36,000 times. That puts it in second place in the store’s Top Free App category and 69th among all apps, according to KTO.
The English version of the app, which was launched in February and is aimed at helping foreigners search for places to go in Korea, offers more than just a list of city and region names.
It offers tips on lodging, transportation and events by region and provides recommendations for specific destinations by season – all of which can be accessed through the “Hot” tab at the top of the screen.
The top of the app screen also displays the Korea Tourism Organization’s 1330 hotline, which is staffed by a group of knowledgeable agents ready to answer travelers’ questions.
The app also has features that allow users to check the currency exchange rate, weather, time and emergency contacts in addition to providing detailed maps of each region.
