On July 24, LG Electronics reported that they have sold about 55,000 dehumidifiers during the two weeks from July 1 to 14. The sales volume went up from the same period last year by 150 percent.
The most popular model, the LD-107DDR is a ten-liter dehumidifier that dehumidifies an area of up to 41 square meters. With its automatic humidity controller, it maintains indoor humidity at 50 to 60 percent, which makes for an optimally pleasant indoor atmosphere. The dehumidifier also has a continuous drainage function, a timer, and a three-level air volume controller.
It also functions to dry out clothes and shoes, receiving favorable responses from customers because humidity is so high during the rainy season. It shortens the time for drying by up to 70 percent.
LG Electronics launched a new six-liter model in May because dehumidifiers are now used for various purposes. This model, the LD-067DSR, is an ultralight dehumidifier that has a humidity controller and a drying function for clothes. It’s perfect for smaller areas such as children’s rooms or singles’ dwellings.
Overall sales of dehumidifiers are likely to reach 400,000 to 450,000 units this year, and LG Electronics is expected to enjoy a 50-percent market share.
Lee Gi Young, a senior vice president at LG Electronics, says, “As the rainy season began, the sales of LG’s dehumidifiers increased, and the popularity of this product has spread rapidly among consumers who have used our products. Because dehumidifiers are now a must-have home appliance, we’ll try our upmost to increase the quality of our products.”
