On August 27, Wemade Entertainment (Kim Nam Cheol and Nam GoongHoon, Co-CEOs) reported that its mobile game Rhythm Scandal has been downloaded more than a million times.
Rhythm Scandal is a smartphone game in which the player makes characters dance to the rhythm of music. Unlike single-play rhythm games, which have been the mainstream of the existing mobile game market, this game provides a four-player real-time dance battle option.
In addition, songs of various genres, including the latest popular songs by such singers as Sistar, Busker Busker, Teen Top, and Seo In Young, are provided for free.
Rhythm Scandal ranked first on the Google Play New Popular Free Apps Chart in only ten days since its release, and the number of daily users exceeded 100,000 in only two weeks.
A spokesperson for Wemade Entertainment says, “Rhythm Scandal has become popular because the genre of this game is unusual and it has various communication functions that can be enjoyed with other users. We’ve provided this service for almost a month. We’ll thoroughly analyze the usage patterns of our users and apply the result to future updates and events.”
