Action film “The Thieves” has finally unveiled the release date of the movie.
Distribution firm Showbox announced this morning that “The Thieves” has been added to the growing list of Korean thriller movies opening this summer and will hit the theaters on July 25.
The action drama has already been creating a buzz in the business as the newly-wed actress Jun Ji-hyun confirmed in March that she will return to the big screen with the project after her wedding, which she later moved up the date from June to April due to the film’s shooting schedule.
Alongside the newly-wed actress, other casts in the impressive ensemble include Kim Soo-hyun, the rising star best known for MBC’s “The Moon Embracing Sun” (2012), and Lee Jung-jae of “The Housemaid” (2010).
With veteran actors Kim Yun-seok, the biggest star of “The Punch” (2011), and Kim Hye-soo of gambling movie “The War of Flower” (2006), the five actors will be portraying a quintet of thieves that team up with a group of four Chinese thieves to steal a diamond that worths 40 billion Korean won, locked in a casino located in Macao.
According to the film’s promotor 1stLook, the distribution rights to the “The Thieves” was already presold to four countries in May after inking a deal with the firms–located in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Taiwan–during the 62nd Berlin International Film Festival (BIFF).
The fourth feature by director Choi Dong-hoon from “The War of Flower” and “WOOCHI” (2009), also premiered during the Hong Kong International Film & TV Market (FILMART) in March.
